Deepak Banerjee, MD, FSCAI, RPVI
Dr. Banerjee completed his general and interventional cardiology training at MCV-VCU, Richmond, VA in 2005 and is board certified in both. He is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation. He relocated to Martinsville from the Hampton Roads area in 2010. His expertise includes evaluation and treatment of all diseases of the heart and blood vessels. He also specializes in vein procedures including laser, phlebectomy and sclerotherapy. He is on staff at Sovah Health - Martinsville Hospital and Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem, VA. In addition, he has a strong collaboration with the cardiologists at Carilon Clinic in Roanoke and Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, NC to ensure contemporary, quality care to all Stateline patients.
Karen Garrett, PA-C
Karen Garrett is a Virginia native and has lived in Martinsville for over 25 years. She completed her undergraduate education at Guilford College with a double major in biology and chemistry. She graduated from the physician assistant program at Wake Forest University School of Medicine with honors in 1999. She has over 22 years of experience in adult medicine with special interest in women's health including contraceptive management and menopause management. Over the last several years, she has expanded her expertise to numerous cosmetic procedures including botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels and medical grade skin care products to assist with anti-aging. She has most recently added laser hair removal, Morpheus8 fractional skin treatment for anti aging, acne scaring and stretch marks, as well as IPL (intense pulsed light) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. She has attended numerous advanced injectables courses instructed by top injectors in the country.
Michelle Rakes, FNP-C
Michelle Rakes is a Virginia native and board certified family nurse practitioner who graduated from George Washington university in 2019. Before becoming a provider, Michelle was a registered nurse with more than 17 years experience in the emergency department and critical care transport settings. She is driven to know each of her patients' personal stories and provide tailored care that is focused and holistic. Because Michelle is committed to patient advocacy, health promotion and disease prevention will always be a collaborative decision.
Outside of work, Michelle is very active and family centered. Whenever the weather is nice, you will find her with her husband, son, family, and friends out camping and floating on the lake. When things get chilly, they will be snowboarding and sitting around a campfire.

M. Lucas Gambill, MD
Dr. M. Lucas Gambill is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was a member of Sigma Sigma Phi, the National Osteopathic Honor & Service Fraternity. He completed his medical training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Virginia Commonwealth University Heath System in Richmond, VA, where he also served as chief fellow during his final year of fellowship. While pursuing his clinical fellowship, Dr. Gambill actively participated in clinical research, studying the inflammatory response in acute coronary syndromes and heart failure. His areas of interest include longevity medicine, preventative medicine, and sports cardiology, and he has additional expertise in trans-radial diagnostic coronary angiography, transesophageal echocardiography, implantation of loop recorders, CT cardiac angiography, and nuclear medicine.
He is native Virginian having been born and raised in Richmond, and he attended the College of William & Mary for his undergraduate studies. Dr. Gambill currently resides in the Hampton Roads area with his wife and kids where he has lived since finishing fellowship in 2015.
